Alright guys and gals, its time for an update. It really has been an interesting few months for sure. Where to start? well how about the last track day? I ended up going out and instructing the at the Track Daze event in may. I’d never instructed with them before, but I knew most of the guys from NASA and I’d heard great things about their events. So I signed up and planned to take the vette. A week before the event i was working on getting the power steering problem sorted out when I found the culprit! The leak was actually the power steering pump itself, and from under the car I could see a nice stream of fluid down the pulley onto my garage floor. Well that sucks, I thought it was just a leaky hose, or maybe a bad fitting on the rack. So I jumped on the forums and they directed me to Turn One.
Out of the cave I come!

One mans trash
April 19th, 2008 · No Comments
Is clearly another mans treasure. Lately I’ve been posting about the TV show Setup and how I’ve been disappointed with it. I think I’ve done a very direct job and stating why I didn’t enjoy the show the way I enjoyed the first season. My articles have been quoted a few places since people agree with what I’ve said and my modest hit count has grown because of this. I will admit my research has not been the best, and that I miss spoke when I said Speed would not be airing a Season 3. That information was clearly wrong and I was corrected by Scott Gillen himself! I was very excited to see that Scott posted on my little piece of the Internet. Honestly I’m a “nobody” and to get a post from someone like Scott is as close to stardom as I’ve ever come.

How Setup should have been
April 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Alright, since I’m on my Setup kick I’ll describe to my readers how I think setup should have been run. “Now, I’m not some grungy wanna be film maker” that’s searching for the next big hit in motorsports entertainment, but I do consider myself an avid motorsports fan. Part of being a fan comes the realization that the reason I watch racing is the application of skill under pressure. This leads to some very dramatic races, with a drivers true talents being shown with the end result being close racing with good dices for position. Now, this position would be first, or thirty first, a dice is a dice and drivers showing what tricks they have up their sleeves is always fun to watch.

Why I’ll never watch Setup again!
April 11th, 2008 · 1 Comment
The first season of Setup was amazing, for the first time there was a show for racers. The “rules” during that season were a little off the wall and I was not sure that I agreed with them. Then again it was not my show, and it still kept the racing interesting. The first season you got to know each of the drivers well, and the show really evolved. I’d have to say that the only downside to the first season was the lack of talent. It really showed when the only club racer ran circles around the competition.

Pro Racing
April 10th, 2008 · No Comments
Recently I’ve been thinking about stepping up and racing with a team in the Grand Am Koni Challenge series. The problem is, as always, the price. A season in Koni Challenge costs roughly what my Corvette did, and if I race in Koni Challenge I don’t get to bring the car home with me. That’s the nice thing about racing with Nasa and SCCA, I have my own car, and i can do with it what I please. Just like with a place to live, sometimes its “cheaper” to own, than it is to rent. However, the higher up you go on the racing ladder, the less that makes sense. However, I’ve come to find out that selling a seat in a race car, and that race car itself is a “loss leader.” Its a business term that means A product or service sold at a substantial discount in order to generate additional sales. I never really thought of racing this way, since to me racing was fun and not something I actually had a budget for. But with the corvette things are MUCH more expensive and I’ve had to reevaluate my spending.

Another day at the track
April 7th, 2008 · 2 Comments
One thing I do love about my job is the ability to take days off with two weeks notice. A while back I had been invited to instruct with the Mercedes Benz club of America for their single day event at Summit Point Main Circuit. Initially I thought I would not be able to make it, but I eventually signed up, and I’m glad I did! It was great seeing some track buddies I’d not seen all winter and getting to tear up Main. This was the first time I have been on Main since the repave last year, and all I have to say is WOW! There is no more concrete with inch drop offs back onto pavement, the bumps were greatly reduced, and the best part was, its FAST! They had repaved over the spots over the concrete, so you still have great reference markers but, they did pave over the gators, so the new gators are just paint on the pavement. That’s true BSR style right there, no need for new gators, we’ll paint them on!

Hello World!
April 5th, 2008 · No Comments
I remember writing a million “hello world” applications in school and not one of them did much at all. I’m hoping that this will do a lot for me. Right now we are off to a good start! After seeing my good friend get a seat in the VW TDI cup, and other drivers with amazing websites, I decided I needed one. Welcome to SpazeRacing.com! I’ll use this site to detail my racing career, driving events, and anything else I want to share with the world. Right now the things on my to do list are: write up a little bit of my history, explain the sites name, and get the site in a more presentable fashion.
I figure this image is the best to end with. A Shot of my race car the day after I brought her home. While she is not perfect, she’ll get better!
